Afghanistan's first all-female orchestra, Zohra, played Beethoven on the rabab (instrument seen in the picture) during their debut international performance at the World Economic Forum. They risked their lives and safety for this performance in Davos. Music was banned in Afghanistan during the rule of the Taliban, and these girls were intimidated and received death threats to stop them from performing. Zohra's members are the first in their family to learn music. The youngest musician is only 13, and their conductor and leader, Negina Khpalwak, is 20.
