From both sides of the country and in both sides of the line. In the middle and north and south of it. Liberals and conservatives. We are all becoming more and more convinced and concretized in the belief that we are right and only we are right. That there is one way to move forward in this country. There is so much of me that is afraid to listen to another side of the story because so much of that story is steeped in hate. I cannot value hate. Why would I? Where does it lead? But I can value another's experience. I can listen and empathize with the suffering of others. As long as they (and I) speak with open hearts. Open minds. With the unified goal of caring for one another. All of us. Building this future for our children with love. That I can do. That is what we love people like #mlk for doing. That is what love does.)
