"This is the first photo we took of our family’s car and that is my daughter sitting on the front - she was 3 years old at the time. It’s actually a funny story how we got this car. My husband said to me, “I’m going to go down to the shops to get a 6 pack of beer and I’ll be back soon”. Nothing out of the ordinary, I thought. Next thing I know, he came back with a 1964 Toyota Crown Deluxe. I couldn't believe it! He was proud as punch and mentioned it is one of the first 6 of its kind to be brought into Australia from Japan. He bought it for $1,555 pounds, which was about $3,500 AUD. Everywhere we went, people asked what it was. This was in Melbourne back in 1963. A trip down memory lane.” -Nonna.
