“System to system” Shade The Changing Girl Issue 4! On stands now! Digital at ComiXology! This issue takes a look at the art of the apology. Apologies are interesting… sometimes they’re for the individual making the apology, sometimes for the offended party, sometimes neither. The best kind of apologies are probably for the benefit of everyone people involved. And I feel like apologies are in high demand these days, or in some ways they have become a requirement for existence. In this way, much like opinions, I don’t know how effective they are anymore, or how real. I’d much rather have someone learn from their mistakes and grow as a person, but sometimes a simple apology is the first step in that journey, and it’s always good to accept a genuine article. Anyway, Loma makes some of the most interesting apologies in this issue, and she is liberated by the experience. Personally, I love her offerings. This issue has a sweetness to it, as well as the usual poetry and gorgeous art and color. I love the pacing of this series, it reminds me in some ways of a manga, which we discussed a bit when cooking this series up. I’m riveted by these high-school moments, these dashes of soap opera mixed with extraterrestrial self-discovery, with an energy. I could see myself watching this on television, glued to the tube every week to find out who backstabs who, or what planet we end up on. One of my favorite titles at Young Animal. Check it out! We’ve also got a really cool Element Girl story in this issue (credits below)! Credits: Written by Cecil Castellucci, drawn by Marley Zarcone, partial inks by Ande Parks, colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick, lettered by Saida Temofonte Back up feature is “Real Life, Starring Element Girl" written by Magdalene Visaggio, illustrated by Paulina Ganucheau, and lettered by Saida Temofonte. The whole shebang is edited by Jamie S. Rich and Molly Mahan. Cover by Becky Cloonan and Variant cover by Joelle Jones! Shade The Changing Man was created by Steve Ditko. #STCG #ShadeTheChangingGirl #DCYoungAnimal #Imsorry
