Happy New Year. I welcome 2017 with hopeful open arms, and I am honestly grateful for the beast that was 2016. Great hope, great love, great loss, great fear, and even greater resolve to dig deeper and open up to what I have yet to learn about myself and the world at large. I am grateful for the teachers; the warm and cuddly ones AND the ones who make me seethe and rage.
We are here on this great planet for a short while, and as I reflect on that, I think of words from one of the wisest hearts I have been blessed to know: "Life. The greatest gift that nobody asked for." But as they say, a gift once given...
So I welcome this life in all its savage beauty, to do with it what I can. The coming year will bring what it brings, and all I can do is resolve to greet it wholeheartedly and give myself over to it.
I'll take my cue from the quiet Sequoias who rise up in the darkness and fog until their tips peek through to the great sky.
