What is happening in #Aleppo is the most horrific thing I've seen in my lifetime. The images of these children, bleeding with missing limbs, numb from the pain while screaming for their dead mothers will haunt me forever. How is it possible that we are standing by watching as a regime targets it's own people for destruction, 71 years after the end of the Second World War? Is this a tragic cycle that will only continue to repeat itself as the governments of the world remain in a state of paralysis? These children are trapped in a nightmare, and I think we can all agree that nothing can justify what they've been through or this type of disregard for human life.
For those of us who feel helpless, there are ways you can help.
Donate to #whitehelmets which is a volunteer rescue organization in Syria who search through the rubble for survivors as well as help civilians recover by fixing up buildings and giving them medical care.
@DoctorsWithoutBorders provides medical assistance to any number of war torn countries. They're currently coordinating support and assistance for those being evacuated from east Aleppo.
Mercy-USA is giving stoves and eco-fuel to internally displaced families.
