We took a birthing class today and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we've made in this pregnancy journey thus far. I wasn't sure what to expect because to be honest, I feel very calm about the prospect of labor. I'm not nervous or anxious and have felt from day 1 like it's truly something I am capable of, like I'm really born to do this (which I am!). I'm visualizing a sacred experience and working to rid myself of the conditioned idea that birth is something traumatic and unbearable. I feel like all the inner work I've done has prepared me for this. Still, I hadn't given much thought to the actual process, logistical things, natural pain relieving techniques and what the dynamic between me and Dennis would be like - all I know is I want to give birth at home and I want it drug free. The controlling side of me just wants to be alone and do everything on my own but I've realized now that this truly is something me and Den will do together. I can lean on him. And there are a TON of amazingly helpful tips and birthing support out there! We spent six hours with @annasprofylax today and learned SO much. Not just about the actual process of birth but massage and pressure techniques, specific breathing exercises for the different stages of labor, ways for us to stay connected throughout... In the picture above Dennis is using a pressure technique on my pelvis which is supposed to ease pain during contractions (it felt really good even now!) and we got to practice several different types of breath work together. I'm so glad we went. Highly recommend this for all moms and dads to be! Whether or not you are opting for hospital or home, medicated or drug-free, natural or Caesarian, there is a way to make this sacred. I fully believe it. I will of course be sharing my own story - I know what I want but I am fully open and ready for whatever comes. Will be blogging about this class from the plane! One more day in Sweden and then we head home. This little family is ready to slow down and rest❤️x @annasprofylax #28weeks #pregnancy #birthclass #labor
