This is my son's school art piece (thanks @rachelcueone!!!) but I am particularly moved by it because just a few nights ago I dreamed of the three birch trees that stood in a tall cluster in front of our house in Cedar Falls, Iowa where I grew up. I spent countless hours peeling the thin bark layers and carving secret messages into the pale skin of the tree with my thumbnail. The trees themselves were an elemental journal for me. Obviously, my son's art has nothing to do with me, but I do love how synchronicity and the subliminal elements can work...
