The Army Corps of Engineers have announced their plans to shut down Oceti prayer camp on December 5th. They claim they do this for the safety of its residents during the winter and to avoid more injuries through confrontations. If they were truly concerned with how the cold or injuries affect peaceful protestors they would not hose them down in 20 degree weather, throw concussion grenades, shoot them with rubber bullets, and pepper spray them. I was at Oceti briefly, but what I witnessed was truly revolutionary, a community of loving, peaceful humans who worked together for each other and for the future of the water, our rights, and our children. We must stand our ground, we must be vocal and loud those of us who are not in North Dakota so that the Army Corps, Obama, all of Washington knows that we will not shrug off the threat of another pipeline. The resistance to the violation of the treaty and our right to clean water is something that I could not stand to see wiped away in one day. There are children, elders, and all around good people in these camps who have sacrificed too much of their lives to be silenced now. Please attend call to action events locally, donate to Standing Rock, flood Obamas Twitter, call the Army Corps, and better yet go to Standing rock. Whatever we do we can't allow for private oil money to come before our drinking water, before the rights of disenfranchised communities.
