Watch an exclusive music video premiere for Cass McCombs’s “Run Sister Run,” which features Tracie Léost, a track and field athlete and activist who brought light to the Highway of Tears by running a 450-mile stretch of road along the Trans-Canada Highway which has claimed the lives of dozens of young women, many of them indigenous, who have disappeared on this road or were murdered nearby. Across Canada, the numbers of missing and murdered indigenous young women over the last several decades is exponentially higher, with estimates as high as 4,000. My lovely friend Rachael Pony Cassells directed this video. Please watch this beautiful example of how we can blend art with activism to bring light and attention to issues swept under the rug by politicians. Also go to the link on Rebecca Bengal's insta @_true_stories_ who also wrote an article about this video ~so inspiring to learn about how one young woman's heart, determination and inspired voice came through~ also find an incredicle article bringing awareness to Standing Rock @_true_stories_ @tracieleost @Vogue @eastsidecamera @davidmcfarland @evenoddfilms #cassmccombs #tracieleost #mmiw #thereddressproject
