It's been a rough week. It's tough to "move on" when I am still scared for our future and even more so, for the many Americans who have been made to feel marginalized by the results of this election. But where before I felt helpless, I have been given hope by the thoughtful and encouraging words I am seeing from many people I admire and respect. This election result IS about parenting. It's about teaching our children to be inclusive and kind. It's teaching them that bullying is bad and respect for women should be demanded and that our girls can go far if they work hard. It's teaching them that experience matters and fighting for what you believe in is worth it. It's teaching them to have the courage of their convictions. It's understanding that hard fought human rights can be taken away if we stop paying attention. It's teaching things that I previously thought were a given, but now I know they are not. That knowledge is valuable. It will help me to raise the kind of kids I want to see running the world some day. And I hope this election motivates those of us who agree to fight harder so in two years or four years, our children get the message loud and clear. #wearestillhere #raisethechange #imstillwithher
