An unseen outtake from our shoot for Headcount.org @headcountorg with divine Dita Von Teese @ディタ・フォン・ティース. We had selected this photo to share earlier this week, because it reminded us of "Winged Victory" sculptures from Ancient Greece in both pose and dress (cut-and-paste the link at bottom to see similarly barefooted examples), a culture which birthed both democracy, and unfortunately, demagoguery (Google "Cleon of Athens" for more on this point). Granted, we had expected the week to turn out differently. However "Winged Victory" depicts Athena Nike, and Athena is also the goddess of wisdom and battle -- and we are going to need plenty of both to build the "hopeful, inclusive, big-hearted" America Hillary Clinton described in her most-dignified concession speech (take heart in this fact progressives, 52% of our country's voters voted for her!)
