On this #VeteransDay I want to thank everyone who has served this country. You have given your lives for us, for our rights. And while many of us are feeling broken, we must also feel thankful to live in a country that has so many freedoms because men and women have given everything to protect them. We will honor you.

Why this #fbf photo today, you may wonder? Well back when we were working in North Carolina, my sweet friend, coworker, sister Hilarie lost a best friend in the armed services. And to honor him she got very involved with the USO. We hosted a Red Bedroom Records concert on a military base, and filmed it for the show. Afterward, many of us went on USO tours around the world. Those visits have been incredibly rewarding for us all. And it all started with her friend, Scott. She was able to honor him. I was able to honor my grandfather (a Navy man). Many of us were able to honor people who meant something great to us, and great to their country.

So today, even if you can't throw a concert or visit a base, honor those who've fought for your freedoms. Freedom of speech. The right to assemble. Freedom of the press. Equal rights for ALL. We are acutely aware of how precious these freedoms are right now. Let's honor those who died to preserve them by committing to stand up for them.
