Last night was the final night of the #inthecompanyofwomen book tour in Philadelphia. We always knew this would be a momentous occasion in one way or another, but being there in that space was a powerful and emotional experience. When it hit me that this was the end of this tour, I cried. Twice. This movement has meant the world to me and last night gave me all the motivation I need to keep it going and to devote myself, in work and in life, to creating safe spaces for positive change. Then I woke up and read Shaun King's twitter feed (which is documenting terrifying cases of racism and more in the first few days post election) and felt knocked right back down to the bottom again. But I think this is an important thing to feel- to hold the anger and the pain and the fear alongside these moments of connection and community and hope. I will not stop fighting and, in some ways, Im just getting started. So to everyone who came last night- thank you. And to those of you joining us in spirit who are dedicated to supporting love and community and progress, know you always have a safe space here. ❤️
