I think we can all agree that today has been pretty charged with emotion. Elation for some, devastation for others. But I'd like to take the opportunity to frame my own sense of sadness and disappointment. My sadness and disappointment came because of this community. This wonderfully diverse community that has so warmly embraced our family, and shared in the joys of encouraging creativity and imagination over the past couple years. You've opened our eyes, minds and hearts ... through the simple act of sharing yours. We regularly chat, smile, share and work with people around the globe ... from all walks of life, nationalities, races and religions. Having friends like you has helped us to embrace a level of diversity in our lives that neither Keith nor I grew up with. And our lives are infinitely better because of it. My devastation this morning was over the fear that our country has elected a person who has no interest in inclusivity. A person who wants us fearing each other rather than hugging and high-fiving. A person who doesn't understand that embracing our diversity is the key to fixing much of what's "wrong". I wholeheartedly believe that we're better together and that the issuing of labels only serves to tear us apart. I was sad this morning because I want Mayhem's generation to work together without giving thought to what makes them different - and I wanted them to see leadership in our country that sets the example. I appreciate and respect that we all cast our ballots with different values and priorities (or fears) weighing on our minds and our hearts, and my sincere hope is that as we move forward, we do so respecting each and every individual equally. The good news, for Mayhem's generation, is that it starts at home ... ❤️Thank you, to each and every one of you, for the gift of this incredible community ? Now, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work ??
