Stay Human I woke up today the same person that I was yesterday, with one exception, that I am even more deeply committed to the values that I cherish- chief among them, equality, judicial fairness, education, renewable energy for the planet, an end to war, religious freedom, economic prosperity for all, non violence and the belief that diversity is one of our greatest strengths. If you woke up after this election scratching your head bewildered about what happened, at least rest assured that our country can agree on one thing. We all want change. The question is do we want to bring about change that is centered around fear, bullying and prejudice or change that comes about through people working together to revamp politics and expand freedoms and opportunity for all it's people. For sure there is a great chasm of divide in our country right now. Lots of yelling and name calling, lots of worry about the future and sadness about the message this type of politics is sending to our children. Don't let it dampen your voice, make you feel less confident or deter you from the belief that we can live side by side while moving forward with change. In 2000 I put out an album called 'Stay Human' and since that day it has been my rallying cry to people everywhere to hold on to human dignity, kindness and connectedness- and to fight for humanity and the planet with tenacity, compassion and love. Although it may feel like this idea may have a diminished place in the world-the truth is it is more needed than ever before and right now it needs each of us to carry it's torch so that our collective light may illuminate wherever darkness attempts to intrude. Don't let the news of this election get you down. Use your feelings today to fuel your commitment to being a part of the positivity and endurance that is needed to get us through this most challenging moment of our life time. If legalization of pot in my state is one silver lining from the election, today I am not rolling up a joint to celebrate-I'm rolling up my sleeves with millions of other Americans and billions of people around the world who are watching, to continue the struggle to create an America where all
