I vow to be a loving and respectful presence in the world. I am devastated and deeply disappointed, but I will only let it energize me. I am scared for the damage that an unfettered and unchecked republican agenda will cause, but we cannot resort to negativity. It's not about parties- it's about goodness, tolerance, respect and dignity. Those qualities will always prevail. We cannot give up. I am even more determined to work for civil rights, environmental protection, prison reform, immigrant rights, gender equality, and LGBT rights. Action is the answer. Education is the key. We must move towards educating our populous or we will continue to elect representatives that represent the views of the uninformed. This was a vote of ignorance. A vote for intolerance born out of misguided anger and disillusionment. I am always floored how the disenfranchised fall for it- thinking the right wing of our political system cares about them. We just took one giant step back in every area that is most dear to me, so it's time to get to work. Artists unite! It's going to a bumpy ride. It's time to hold up the mirror and demand that we take an honest look.
What the world needs now, is LOVE...and ART.
