I'm so heartbroken for my country. Along with half of our citizens, I am in disbelief. This is a dark moment in American history, so much damage has been done by this person already. I'm working abroad, where the feeling seems to be that while many countries have horrible, deplorable leaders- Americans chose this person? We have this incredible gift of a free, democratic election and chose this? I can only say, I am so very sorry, it is tragic, the product of a perfect storm. To the International community, to our kids , to the most vulnerable citizens among us, I am truly sorry. Please remember we are not all behind this. Perhaps some of us were duped by easy promises for the return of some kind of mythical salad days, took oversimplified scapegoats over the real, much more more complex global economic explanation, the massive technological shift that's taken place. Many, many of us fiercely know that what this man says and does is not right, treating women and minorities - and common decency and reason - in this horrific way is wrong. We aren't all behind this, but we are all in this together, and many many of us do passionately believe in religious freedom, fiercely believe in equality regardless of gender, color, or creed. Let's love each other just a little bit more today, hold our kids just a little bit tighter, as we pray and hope our country wakes up.
