When the Burj Khalifa was built, one of the many things the construction team had to get right was the concrete mixture- if it set too quickly in the heat of Dubai then it was likely to crack and weaken. To combat this the team didn’t pour the concrete during the day in the summer months- instead it was laid at night when the air was cooler. But even then the mixture was still too warm, so they added ice to the concrete- lots of ice.
