Following a strategic planning session for the 2020 Olympic cycle held recently at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., USA Gymnastics is revamping the leadership position for the men’s national team from a national team coordinator to a high performance director. The contract of the current national team coordinator, Kevin Mazeika of Houston, expires at the end of this year. “The coaches, committee members and staff did a thorough review of the existing structure and results, and then took a hard look at what is needed to prepare our athletes for success heading toward Tokyo and beyond,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics.
