FT: Reading 1-2 Villa - Jordan Ayew’s 90th minute penalty sealed Villa’s long-awaited victory on the road. Steve Bruce’s side began on the front foot – carving opportunities through Albert Adomah, Jonathan Kodjia and Gary Gardner. Kodjia’s goal late in the first half gave Villa a richly deserved lead at the break while Reading were level just under 10 minutes into the second 45 – Aly Cissokho fouling Garath McCleary to concede a penalty, Danny Williams’ initial effort was well saved before Yann Kermorgant headed home the rebound. Italy U21 international Pierluigi Gollini was then alert to tip George Evans’ power-driver over the crossbar following a clever ball from John Swift. At the other end, Leandro Bacuna was a key outlet and he almost restored his team’s advantage – shooting low, hard but into the arms of Ali Al Habsi following a clever ball from Mile Jedinak. His free-kick from 25 yards then edged wide of goal as Villa upped the tempo and the pressure. Kodjia, a constant nuisance for the Reading defenders came close to scoring his and Villa’s second – latching onto Rudy Gestede’s header but steering his shot over the target. They were not to be denied though. Ayew, introduced with just 13 minutes remaining, was fouled in the box and stepped up to convert from 12 yards. . #AVFC #REAAVL #AstonVilla #AstonVillaFC #Reading #ReadingFC #ReadingFootballClub #Football #Stadium
