HT: Villa 1-1 Wolves - It’s been the story of the two penalties in the opening 45 minutes here at Villa Park. Jonathan Kodjia gave the claret and blues a 15th minute lead – converting from the spot after Jack Grealish was tripped in the box. Buoyed by their opener, Steve Bruce’s side continued to attack and a lovely one-two involving Grealish and Ross McCormack saw the latter’s attempted pass cut out by Dave Edwards at the crucial moment. New-look Wolves did threaten on the break and a searching ball looked to pick out Kortney Hause but a claret and blue shirt just got there first. In what was a relatively even opening 45 minutes, the visitors levelled on 34 minutes – Aly Cissokho handled a cross in the box – Helder Costa finishing well. Villa responded well and only a smart save from Wolves stopper Carl Ikeme prevented Kodjia’s long-ranger from finding the back of the net.
