Let us take you back to 1921. The first UCI World Championship Road Race in history was held in Denmark and only open to amateur men. Coincidentally it was also the year that Shimano was established.
This picture is from the 1990 Road World Championships in Japan. It was the first time held in Asia, in Japan - home of Shimano - but still no Shimano winner.

1991 Brought Shimano the first gold in history in the Men's WC race. Do you know which rider has this honor?
