Mae West is my #GIRLHERO inspiration. A writer, director, singer and actress. She was known for pushing the boundaries of censorship. She was an early supporter of the women's liberation movement as well as an early supporter of gay rights since the 1920's. She always fought to speak her mind. I find her a huge inspiration of female creativity, power, and economic self-sufficiency. In the Depression-era she challenged middle-class ideals of female chastity and modesty.
