#GoPro Featured Photographer + Family member: @robbiecrawford About the shot: This photo is of GoPro Athlete @whoisjob who is one of the most fun surfers on the planet to shoot with because he'll go on any wave that comes his way no matter how nuts. Also, he's crazy talented and will make waves that don't seem possible to make. This day the conditions were perfect and the barrels were being beautifully lit by the early morning light. When I first saw this shot on my computer is when I really noticed how much the #HERO5 had raised the bar as far as image quality. I zoomed in 300% in Photoshop to examine the image and could see the detail in Jamie's eyes and there was minimal noise. At that point I knew this camera had changed the game. How I got the shot: Working with Jamie to make sure I was correctly lined up with him so that he would reach the optimum distance from me at the moment he was perfectly positioned within the barrel. The most challenging part of water photography when working with a surfer is to line up with them at that optimum distance, which is a very short range. If the surfer is too far away or too close you won't get the perfect shot. When shooting empty waves I usually shoot 30/1 second burst but when shooting a surfer I usually switch to 30/2 second burst so that I can capture more of the complete ride and there's less chance of the sequence ending before the best frame. Settings: 30/2 sec burst | ISO Limit 200 | ISO Maximum 800 | ev -.5 | GoPro Color | WB Auto | Sharpness Low
