It seems like each day of this year has brought a new story of injustice, ugliness, and hatred into my timelines, newsfeeds, and updates. And then, right as 2016 enters its fourth quarter, @saintrecords arrived with compassion, beauty, and boundaries. She laid beside us, held our hands, and sang us love. Yes, us. Black folks, Black men, Black women, Black queers, Black children, and anyone else who inhabits a Black body. Capital B. I am not arrogant enough to that I am the only one for whom this album was utterly emboldening. However, my writing continues, and the story I have to tell will be told. I am grateful to Solange for her invitation, for the seat offered to me, and for the music affirming what I have always suspected:
