This poor cat, Mittens, was declawed at the @houstonhumane wellness clinic. I've been trying for 7 months to get an answer from Houston Humane Society as to why they declaw cats but no one ever returned my calls or emails.
The secretary of the HHS Board of Directors is a vet and also was the Pres. of HHS in 2004 and 2005. She is the owner and vet at All Cats Veterinary Clinic in Houston and this is one of the many deceitful things All Cats Veterinary employees tell cat owners who ask about declaws at this practice. When you ask about any long term negative affects or why cats would limp after getting their toe bones amputated, the office manager says, "As far as limping is concerned, it’s usually an improper surgery or sympathy. Oh I hurt, therefore I’m going to limp and make you feel bad." Sympathy? ??
An employee at All Cats Veterinary Clinic was asked for this interview if they consider declawing to be inhumane and she said, ""The benefits outweigh any possible problem and the pain." ?
When I asked one of their employees as to why this vet also declaws dogs they said, "On a rare occasion, which to me, it actually makes a lot more sense to declaw a dog than a cat. Do you know anyone who can trim their own dog’s toenails?" Please read and share this shocking story that is on the link on my instagram bio. We must protect cats in Houston and everywhere, from this inhumane procedure and try to inspire Houston Humane to stop declawing cat and be like most all other Humane Societies in America and just educate the public on why declawing is unnecessary and mutilating.
