??? #Repost w/ @hollyrpeete・My heart is broken for this poor woman who called the police to help her with her mentally challenged brother who was in major crisis. The sound of her voice on the video crying over and over again "I called you to help but you killed my brother you killed my brother why couldn't you just tase him why why WHYY???" is haunting me. If you know or love anyone who has mental illness this would make you scared to call the police. The thing is I've seen many police confrontations not end in death when the police have prior knowledge the person is mentally ill which these officers had. How can we change this pattern of kill first ask questions later? This is my worst nightmare every time my son leaves the house. Before you start commenting just comply just comply ---Not everyone knows how to process police commands especially when they have mental challenges. that has to be taken into account. I understand so much is asked of police but I have seen these confrontations diffused and resolved without death. This cannot just be one community's problem but it has to be everyone's problem or else it will never get solved. ???? don't police departments want the trust of the communities they are policing? Wouldn't that make it safer for them? It has to be earned it just can't be given because you have a badge... with all of the shootings and deaths I have yet to hear any police department or police union admit that there's a problem and that it's being worked on....meanwhile this grieving sister's cries just echo in my head....?????
