Earlier on, the Bakery Kittens had their first shower.... and imagine my dismay to discover that Biscuit, Donut and Cookie had scabs on some parts of their skin, and that all of them have ear mites. The watery eye issue that Cookie had when I took them in has spread to the rest, and even though the instructions were to use saline to clean their eyes, I think there's only so much that that can do. (I don't know if they were taken to a vet before they were passed to me to look after, by the way.) I don't know how much longer I'm supposed to foster them for - indefinitely? - since apparently only Pretzel has an adopter and now I'm also not sure if I'll have to pay for the rest (who don't have adopters) to be neutered? The cost of their food and litter has all been on me so far, and I'm not sure if the vet expenses for the problems I mentioned earlier fall on me too. I'm already overspending as it is since I'm already fostering them for longer than expected. Not to mention, they are getting too big for the cage I have and it seems so cruel to keep them locked up most of the time. This is my first time fostering for someone else and I'm not sure what the usual protocols are, and I can't seem to communicate effectively with the person I'm helping to foster them for. It's hard because I feel as though my way of doing things is not good enough and though I asked for another fosterer to take over (this was last Sunday), I haven't heard anything yet. No updates on when Pretzel will go to his new home either. I want to ask of course, but always end up feeling like I'm being bothersome when I do. I just needed to get all this out there and off my chest because it's been a source of stress and worry for awhile, and want to know other fosterer's experience? Does anyone have any advice or opinion for me? Please let me know.
