This picture was taken 5 years ago when I met @bongqiuqiu for the first time. For a while she has been going through a tough time, and this is just a support note to her from me as a friend. We have gotten much closer over the years and she is one of my most valued friends now because we share the same personal values and can relate to each other in many ways as the crazy #pokeMOM haha. She is also a blogger that I admire very much because of how dedicated she is to blogging and how she always goes the extra mile and give 200% to her sponsors and clients. It breaks my heart to see her getting so stressed out over the lawsuit. A lot of people might have misunderstood that her quitting the agency means greed and her wanting more revenue share for herself. It is very hurtful, and I know it first hand because people said the same about me when I quit my agencies years ago. But I think it is the complete opposite. Choosing to be independent is not easy, as you risk losing all your clients and potential job opportunities. I had the same worries too but I was lucky to have the support of my family and readers. After 12 years of experience in blogging, I realized that money matters the least as a motivation to being a good blogger. Having two kids to take care of now, I hardly have the time to accept any commercial jobs, but I still make effort to update my blog for more important reasons - to share useful information, to be of even a little help for people who need it, to bring a little joy for my followers who enjoy reading my entries, to not disappoint readers who have supported me over the years. I don't receive money from doing these, but the reward is more than worth the time. I believe for Qiu it is the same. Just as she said, the contract is over and she should be let free to pursue her personal goals. If being independent gives her more freedom to pen her thoughts and to choose who she loves to work with, I will give my full support to her - because I too, like many of her readers, just want her to get over the dark days and regain new strength to be able to bring us joy and smiles in her writing again. Because that is what we love her for.
