This post is written with the desire to bring awareness to suicide and also that September is suicide prevention month. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year old Americans. In addition my home state Colorado has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, with 19.4 suicides for 100,000 residents, according to data released from the Colorado Health Foundation.
@freeandabove inspired me to share my message to every person struggling with suicidal thoughts. First, you are not alone. A person who admits they need help is not a sign of weakness but it is a sign of honesty. It is completely okay to speak vulnerably and transparently about personal struggles and brokenness. No one has it all together and we don't have to. We all have to let go of our most haunting thoughts (we all have them) and find HOPE in the love of God.
We're made to be passionate, made to love one another, and made to stand strong when life feels like an oasis of helplessness. You are made for more. WE ARE MADE FOR MORE! Because of what God has done for us we all are made for joyous living. Starting today let us stand together to support one another in passionately and hope-filled living.
