"Grace: The American Vogue Years" came out this week and beautifully distills years of work so influential that it's impossible to extract her from fashion's DNA. Or from my own love for style as a form of storytelling. Her work was as central to the fostering of my imagination as the books and musicals I loved as a kid, and continues to remind me of the potential for feeling that can be evoked by a small visual detail, a model's expression, a carefully draped dress.
