Happy World Humanitarian Day SOULROCKERS! --- People ask me all the time, "what can I do?" to change the world? --- My response is simply, "Do what you can!" A lot of people think you have to start a non-profit or have lofty goals to "change the world," but it's really about taking the talents that you already possess and applying them to serving the greater good. Over the years I've met so many ordinary people do extraordinary things to make a difference, I met a hairdresser in Denver who takes one night a week to do hair for women going through chemotherapy an accountant in Chicago who donates his services a few hours a month to a community building non profit, a surfer in Indonesia creating a business using new bamboo technology to create sustainable wood products and preserve the cultures that live there, a lawyer in australia who's firm also makes affordable breathing kits for preemie babies. I believe the world changes the most when millions of people, in millions of places do millions of small things. When Sara and I were at the UN World Humanitarian summit in Istanbul, Turkey in May, we heard first hand from people all around the globe sharing the fact that there are currently 130 million people in need of direct humanitarian assistance right now. A number greater than any time since the end of World War II. We are honored to be dedicating our Lake Tahoe show tonight to World Humanitarian Day, to all of the people in the world who provide humanitarian assistance around the world, to every person who believes in serving the greater good... and everyone who shares our goal of getting to a point on this planet where everyone can say it's #goodtobealivetoday. #sharehumanity --- Tell us what you will do to honor this day today! If you'd like to know what you can do right now to make a difference, not just on World Humanitarian day, but every day, copy and paste this link at https://worldhumanitarianday.org/ "What can I do? Do what you can!"
