From Rescate Animal Zoo Ave: "Born for the first time in Animal Rescue ZooAve: a baby sloth in captivity. The mother came to us when she was just four months old, was brought by an individual who found her next to her mother who was dead. The person who brought her to us had named her Florecita.

Five years later, she gave birth to the first baby born in captivity in our foundation. Florecita is on display along with three males. A sloth pregnancy is about 36 weeks. After the birth, the mother and baby are together for about a year.
The little sloth has had no contact with foundation staff but they constantly monitors to observe their evolution. They grow in a wild environment and at the time an adult will be released in one of our protected areas.

This birth is very special to us because it is the first time in 26 years that a sloth mother on display has give birth. It's also difficult to reproduce this species in captivity."
