Leading up to the #Emmys, I’m dedicating #WCW to the iconic black actresses who were nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy! First is the incredibly talented #DiahannCarroll, an accomplished TV/stage actress & singer! She was a trailblazer, starring in some of the earliest studio films to feature black casts, and she was also the first EVER Black Emmy nominee in 1963. She made history again in 1969, becoming the first black nominee for Best Actress, Comedy for playing the title role in Julia on NBC ??
