More has been revealed about the new Twin Peaks revival: Thanks to a recent talk with the heads at Showtime, the long-awaited sequel series – which has been over 25 years in the making – has now been confirmed for an early 2017 release, with David Lynch working on a suitably “unconventional” release strategy. . “Everything about Twin Peaks is going to be unconventional – unconventional in the handling of it and how we put it out in the world and how we market,” Showtime CEO David Nevins said on Thursday (August 11). . “I want to embrace the unusualness of it, and I think it is quite possible we're not going to do a traditional release pattern. I don't know exactly what that means yet. I've had a couple of conversations with (Lynch). I can definitely see longer episodes or the question of how we release it linearly and for those who want to stream it.” . Nevins also revealed more about the footage itself. Apparently David Lynch – who is writing, directing, and scoring the series – is also currently editing it; with the episodes now fully taking shape. “We were instantly transported,” Nevin enthused. “The tone, the feel, it is so singular. We can't wait to show it to the world.” . “It's really gorgeous and has that feeling of sort of unsettling, eerie mystery and also sometimes really funny. I think it has a real sense of incredible specificity of Lynch's characters.” . The news follows a number of other developments; including the unveiling of the full cast list, a special vinyl reissue, and a new novel announcement from co-creator Mark Frost. The latter project, titled The Secret History of Twin Peaks, will aim to detail all the missing plot points of the last 26 years. - words @dominiquesisley #dazedinstastory
