At this time of year Iceland doesn’t get dark until the early hours, so with an extra long evening ahead of me I left the city behind to find an un-inhabited island to the north-east of Reykjavik. When I found it there was a single, sandy footpath inviting me over to the tiny island. On my right there were seals playing in the waves, but there was something else in the water, something disrupting the shore break ahead of me. As I got closer I realised that stranded against the coastline was the wreck of an old fishing boat. So under the midnight sun I took my camera out and happily snapped away until the last light fell behind the horizon. Moments like these are why I love to travel.
