Magome, a perfectly preserved 500 year old post town on the Nakasendo, the inner road between Kyoto and Tokyo on which feudal lords and their entourage of samurai and retainers, traveled every 2 years between the capitals. Merchants houses and shops, inns and gardened traditional architecture line both sides of the road.
