On Mon we were stranded on a mountain top with no cell phone service for 4 hours after losing power and brakes to our vehicle on a downslope.
On Tues, we sat in our trailer all day waiting for the verdict on our jeep.
By Tues night we were holding each other, both in tears of disappointment, because it was becoming difficult to find the light at the end of this tunnel after getting more bad news of the status of our whereabouts.
Come Wed afternoon, a complete turn of events led us to holding each other, both in tears of joy, shock, and gratitude. We were waiting in line at the DMV watching all of this unfold and couldn't believe a single word of it. Instagram and Facebook shares, comments, DMs, donations, messages, friend requests, and a phone call from two complete strangers telling us not to worry, we were being taken care of. We laugh-cried for hours at each new development.
By Wed night, a 2017 Audi Q7 was driven to us from San Francisco. It's Thurs morning and we are on our way to our wedding. By tomorrow night, Gus will be my husband and I will be his wife and it could not have happened without any of this.
We have been at the mercy of the kindness of strangers and we have so many people to thank. We will be sharing a letter thanking each individual who has shown us hospitality in this situation from the beginning, but first we'd like to again thank @alchemy7om and @almostalwayshungry for creating the @gofundme on our behalf, for @azitaloves and @psimadethis for searching for resources to help us and contacting us to let us know everything was going to be okay, to @ソフィア・ブッシュ and @ケイト・ウォルシュ for sharing our story to their audience and reaching out to auto companies to help us, to @Audi for being the first to offer their hand to us in lending us a car, and to @enterprise_inspires and @hertz for being ready to step in to help in case anything fell through, To Marc of @pmk_bnc for piecing it all together, and a big thank you to Alex who worked an 8hr shift and voluntarily hopped in the Q7 for an 7hr trip to deliver it to us at 11pm last night.
We have a 13hr drive ahead so wish us luck!
