NEW ALL BLACK Anton Lienert-Brown was straight into work in his first day as an All Black with his official headshot and team photo. All Blacks Head Coach Steve Hansen has welcomed 21-year-old @anton_lb into the All Blacks fold, saying his versatility was key: “The reason we have gone for Anton over anyone else is because he can cover second five and centre and gives us better options than anyone else.” Lienert-Brown has been rewarded for his consistent form for the Chiefs during the 2016 Investec Super Rugby season. After making his Super Rugby debut as an 18 year old in 2014, he secured a starting position in the Chiefs midfield in 2016 and quickly established himself as one of the team’s key performers. In 14 appearances this year, his line-breaking and distribution skills were impressive, but it was also on defence where Lienert-Brown shone with his quick line speed shutting down opposition attackers. He first rose to prominence at first XV level for Christchurch Boys’ High School before being selected in the New Zealand Under 20 side in 2014 and 2015. Welcome to the All Blacks, Anton!
