This very day 3 years ago... My phone rang and I saw it was my Granny. We had just celebrated her 79th birthday that weekend and I figured she was calling to chat about it! I knew from how she said my name when I picked up something was wrong. Everything went silent as she told me her bronchitis was misdiagnosed and she had lung cancer. I remember feeling angry and confused and asking her "How?? You have never smoked? They have it wrong!" The reality facing her wasn't wrong. She had a grave diagnosis but she chose to fight. She underwent surgery and treatments for a few months to no avail. With every ounce of will and strength I saw her battle but sadly she lost her fight. Many of you saw as I documented her journey. She kept telling me how she wanted to inform others and inspire them! So in her honor I carry on her wish! I see her absence as an opportunity. The opportunity to speak and share, to unite with others, to help raise awareness, to meet others fighting, to walk with those who know loss, and to make a change in her honor! So inspired by Doris' determined spirit. I set a goal of $10,000 for my walk in LA. I am donating proceeds from my birthday to kick us off! BUT I NEED YOUR HELP!! I need you to participate in any way you can... Spread awareness, share the facts, volunteer, walk with me, join my Team DD, and please donate! LINK IN MY BIO!! I would be honored to see you beside me on November 20, 2016 in Los Angeles!!
