On my second day of vacation here in France I woke up at 6am to watch the sunrise and headed off for a ride. My goal was to climb one of the most famous climbs in cycling: the Col de la Madone. At an average grade of about 7%, this road soars over 3,000ft and is an uncategorized climb (which basically means it's really hard!) Many of the Tour de France riders come here to train and test their fitness. It's a cycling Mecca of sorts. Once I reached the top I took a breather and downed my peanut butter and Nutella sandwich and started the descent through some of the most beautiful hill towns in France. I'm happy to be here and happier to get out in nature and see all that France has to offer.
