This week we're having a hashtag contest to celebrate my new book, In the Company of Women, being available for pre-order (link to order in profile above)! All week we're asking people to share photos of women that inspire them (personally or professionally), hashtag them #inthecompanyofwomen and I'll choose five lucky winners to receive a special limited-edition tote and signed copy of the book!
Today I'm sharing a photo of one of my biggest inspirations, @thelmagolden . Thelma was one of the first people I reached out to about being in this book and when she said, "Yes", my heart stopped for a second. She is one of my greatest inspirations and constantly motivates me to keep learning, exploring and discovering new things. This is a portrait of her by @sashaisrael from our shoot for the book, taken on location at @studiomuseum where she is the Director and Chief Curator. [*Thelma's dress is from her wonderfully talented husband @duroolowu 's collection. My dream is to waft from city to city in one of his dresses for the book tour]
