Haven't shared my thoughts about the huge news of climbing making it to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Obviously I'm very excited, it's a big chance for our sport to get recognized even more and hopefully opens up a lot of doors for athletes and federations.
But let's not forget that there is still work to do! For now the plan of our international federation (ifsc) is to create a 'new' format which would somehow combine the 3 existing disciplines. In my opinion speed climbing is so different to the difficulty disciplines (lead & boulder) that it should never be combined with them. I know that many athletes share this view and I really hope the ifsc and ioc won't engineer a discipline that most athletes don't enjoy doing, just to fit into the Olympic program.
