Had to stop in Pompeii on the way to Positano! Amazing! Evidently, they were never actually hit by any lava, Mt Vesuvius is 5 miles away. Most of the 17,000 inhabitants got out in time, and the 100 or so who stayed were hit and covered 24 ft deep by the massive toxic, debri/ash cloud! I always thought they were encased in lava? #wasntpayingattentioninclass #pompeii #italy #evatravels #accessitalytours
