Photographer Gray Sorrenti (@graysorrenti) is just as comfortable in front of the camera as she is behind it. “When I take my own picture, I know what I want and I know how to direct it,” the 15-year-old says. “It’s about knowing what you want and like and what’s comfortable for you.” Since receiving a film camera two years ago from her dad, famed photog Mario Sorrenti, Gray has looked to friends and family for inspiration. “I love shooting my friends. It’s all about their personalities and what they love doing and what our connection is,” she says.
For Gray, #GirlGaze doesn’t just live online. “I feel like feminism is more inside you and the way you carry yourself and the things you believe in. It doesn’t have to be posted around the world,” she explains. "If you’re one with yourself as a woman or a girl, you don’t need the world to accept you.” ?Words by @suewilliamson.
