It all started in 1926, when Rolex unveiled the Oyster, the first waterproof wristwatch in the world. By the time scuba diving emerged some 25 years later in the early 1950s, the Rolex Oyster, continuously perfected, was ready to take a deeper plunge. The first Submariner was designed in 1953 specifically for underwater exploration and quickly adopted by professional divers.
