Kevin Hillery and Shannon Beydler faced many challenges together, which only proved to strengthen their bond. The groom had become paralyzed from the waist down as a result of a mountain biking accident two years before he met the bride. The couple were married on July 3 in the gardens of Airlie, a neo-Georgian conference center and hotel in Warrenton, Va. They met in August 2012 while attending a baseball game with friends in Nationals Park in Washington. Although they were not seated next to each another, Ms. Beydler knew she wanted to learn more about Mr. Hillery.
From the very beginning, the groom was adamant about not letting his injury get in the way of their budding romance. “We need to focus on what we can do together, not what we can’t do,” said Mr. Hillery.
