The Four Corners region is known for afternoon monsoons that slam into the mountains during the summer months. In the afternoon hours, intense thunderstorms, lightning, and hail storm the southwest then leave as quickly as they arrived. On the scheduled day of their New Mexico high point, summit bid, @FiftyPeaks was forced into a rain delay at the Taos Cow coffee shop and wait out the storm before ticking the 13,161-foot #wheelerpeak summit and heading south to Texas.
