Oaklandish is a certified B-Corp and great member of the Oakland community. The company exhibits the kind of values and community support that all businesses should.
This new partnership with Oaklandish and The @uglyfruitandveg Campaign aims to spread awareness that ugly (produce) really is beautiful for so many reasons. To do this, we will start by selling Ugly Fruit And Veg branded t-shirts and tote bags.
We have a massive problem with fruits and vegetables in the U.S. About 25% of all produce is wasted before stores, mostly for cosmetic reasons. Perfectly nutritious, fresh, and delicious produce that is slightly off-color, misshapen, or a little small or big. But it doesn't have to be this way, we can raise awareness and demand a change for society and the planet, we can #DemandUgly.
Whether it be preventing food waste, helping farmers, offering "ugly" produce for sale at major grocery stores for 30-50% off, or supporting food banks and food assistance agencies with farm to food bank and gleaning programs, this not-quite-perfect produce could be a great soliton to many problems if we put forth the effort.

It's not a really complicated thing either. I talk to people all the time about this and once you explain what's happening and that the somewhat "different" produce is perfectly good, they are on board to purchase or help.
A small portion of every sale will go to my @uglyfruitandveg Campaign. So please consider purchasing a shirt or tote bag to support the ugly produce movement. Because it is what's on the inside that counts!
